The problem
Most landlords in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu track rent in a notebook or a WhatsApp group. Tenants pay by M-Pesa, but the receipt is a screenshot. A repair gets reported in a chat thread that scrolls past before anyone acts on it. None of it holds up when a tenant disputes a payment or an accountant asks for a full year of records.
What we built
HomeSpot replaces that with STK Push rent collection, a PDF receipt for every payment, an arrears list that updates itself, and a maintenance queue that keeps tickets from getting lost. Every payment feeds records landlords can hand to an accountant for MRI (Monthly Rental Income) filing on iTax.
How it works
Marketplace
Browse and publish residential listings. Verified agents and listers help buyers and renters find properties across Kenya.
Role-based dashboards
Separate portals for owners, managers, tenants, maintenance, and gate staff, each scoped to the buildings and permissions they need.
M-Pesa payments
STK Push rent collection with a PDF receipt on every payment and an arrears list that updates itself.
Operations
Maintenance tickets, bulk SMS, visitor passes, and an audit trail, so nothing gets lost in a chat thread.
Who it's for
- Individual landlords with a handful of units
- Portfolio owners running multiple buildings
- Property managers who need one dashboard instead of five phones
- Tenants who expect to pay rent the way they pay for everything else
How we handle your data
Every account is scoped by role, so a tenant only sees their own unit and a manager only sees the buildings they run. Data handling follows the Kenya Data Protection Act. That doesn't change based on how big your portfolio is.
